Not only was this trip a fulfillment to my sense of wonder and adventure, but it was as life changing as my friends always mentioned when posting about it. God opened my eyes to a whole new perspective on life. The trials and tribulations, that I once saw as detrimental, are now seen as trivial in comparison to the daily struggles faced by millions of Indians. They face death, a loss of faith, seemingly hopeless conditions, and what Americans would perceive as barely enough to survive; and they continue through it all the same. Not only continue, but they find joy, love, and even peace in one another and the lives they live. India operates in a similar, but vastly different manner than America, and in many ways the people within are seemingly better off for it. People are happy, families are thriving, and life is not stress filled and dependent upon the next activity or event. India knows how to live a life that many would describe as complete, and I believe that Americans could learn a thing or two about that very thing.
As I reflect on my time in India I am left in awe and wonder. Did this really happen? Was this really a part of my life? How exactly did a small town Hoosier end up in the most populated place on earth? Then I am forced to stop and refocus. I didn't do a single thing. This was all God. Through Him, funds were donated and prayers were sent our way. He is the one that kept me safe for three weeks in another country. He woke up my life, my faith, and my perspective on a great many things. None of this would have been without Him. Even as I sit here and close I am once again left saddened, overjoyed, longing for a return, but forever grateful I had the experience. I will never forget the time I spent in this beautiful place and I pray that the lessons I learned continue on with me for the rest of my life.
Thank you for reading this, for keeping me in your thoughts and hearts, and for just being able to experience this life with me. If you have anymore questions feel free to message me on Facebook or email me directly at gordont@huntington.edu. May God bless you and be with you always.
